Craniosacral Therapy now at Born London - How can this help my baby?

Starting life with your body system in complete balance is a huge benefit in coping with many health or other issues that life can bring. Craniosacral therapy is a subtle and profound healing form that is used for babies as soon as they come into life to help their system to settle into a normal rhythm and vitality.

Born in Stoke Newington, London has teamed with practitioner Maria Esposito to offer a new Baby Craniosacral Therapy Clinic each Monday afternoon (4-6pm) from September 2014 onwards. Contact Born London for more details.

How can Craniosacral Therapy benefit my baby?

The experience is different from each baby, child or adult according to their own need of balance and adjustments. CST is often used for babies who have experienced a difficult or traumatic birth, but there are very real benefits for those who have enjoyed a smooth birth too.

The first thing you will probably notice is a sense of deep relaxation, which will generally last throughout the session. This release of tension often extends into everyday life. Sometimes the benefits are not immediately noticeable but become obvious on returning to a familiar environment. The work is often deeply moving and exhilarating.

How does is work?

It is called craniosacral because the spinal fluid going from the cranio to the sacral is what makes everything function well and properly. All the nerves from the brain to the body and from the body to the brain pass through, connected like a tree with branches and roots. The Craniosacral Therapist listens to the rhythm of that fluid and feels if there is any blockage in the body, memory cells of the tissue and the mind as well as the energetic field around that body to see if it is breathing well and properly. If there is a blockage, the therapist will help the mother and baby unblock the blockage and re-balance the system or body function.

What issues can it help with?

  • Re-balancing the body after birth
  • Removing the memory of a traumatic birth
  • Coli
  • Sleeping better and more peacefully
  • Frequency of reflux and of throwing up milk
  • Stronger connection with mother and babies (the mother needs to be treated as well as the baby for both Reflux and connection with the baby)
  • Clinging babies or toddlers
  • Teething
  • Coughing
  • Frequent colds for babies, toddlers and children,
  • Reduction of allergies
  • Reduced irritation, which can lead to a happier and more communicative toddler
  • Reduction and or elimination of night terrors in toddlers and children in general
