DIY Doll Cloth Nappy (with fabric poo!)

We found this on the brilliant Made by Joel blog and had to share it! Many toddlers love role playing and caring for their dolls or soft toys and we think this cloth nappy with detachable poo is genius! Add an additional cloth wipe or two and you've got the complete eco-friendly nappy kit!

The nappy and poo are easy to make with very minimal sewing. You can use fleece or felt as they keep their shape well, but any thick fabric would work.

How to make the Cloth Nappy:

1. Draw out a shape similar to the template below to fit your doll or animal, and cut out the pattern.  Then place the pattern over a piece of fleece (or felt) fabric and cut out the nappy shape.

2. Sew on the pieces of velcro for fastening the nappy and also the poo.

How to make the poo and wipes:

1. Find some brown fabric scrap, and cut into an oval shape, about 4.5×3.5 inches. Then sew a piece of velcro onto one side.  Make sure the velcro is opposite that on the nappy, so the velcro attaches.

2. Fold the oval in half length-wise so that the velcro is inside and sew down the edge, leaving an opening at the end, then turn right-side out, so that the velcro is on the outside. Sew the end closed.

3. Cut out a few squares of fabric as baby wipes and you're all set!
